A Federal Mahogany And Brass Tall Case Clock
Aaron Willard (1757-1844), Boston, Massachusetts, Circa 1810
the enamel-decorated face with moon phase dial, inscribed, "Aaron Willard/ Boston," the hood with arched top, fluted columns, typical Roxbury-type case with fluted quarter columns, retaining original Aaron Willard printed label to interior of waist door, raised on French feet.
Height 94 1/2 x width 19 1/2 x depth 9 1/2 inches.
Condition
the hood presently with an applied and painted tin top over the arch, masking any evidence of a fret, if it originally had one; hood door has a patch along left-facing side corner, with a couple other veneer patches; face with some crackling and minor abrasions to lower part of dial; backboard with some holes; retains baseboard; missing lock and lock plate; retains original label to interior of case door; some subtle dents and possible mends along molding of case door; some losses along right-facing side molding to underside; back right-facing foot facing appears to have been replaced, and left-facing foot facing with some touch-up and fill; the front left-facing foot with a later screw reinforcement; includes a pendulum and two weights; no case key or winding key; as with all mechanical objects, Freeman's | Hindman does not guarantee functionality for clocks
